ROME - POMPEII - NAPLES: FULL DAY - DEPARTURE FROM ROME

The Autostrada del Sole, heading south, leads us through the green Roman countryside, passing through the Castelli Romani. Halfway through the bus we will see the ABBEY OF MONTECASSINO, famous for the great battle of the Second World War. We go down to the port of Mergellina and walk along the seafront until we reach SANTA LUCIA, an ancient fishermen’s district, where CASTEL DELL ‘OVO is located (stop for photographs). The visit of the city continues, crossing the historic center, with PIAZZA DEL PLEBISCITO, the ROYAL PALACE, the BASILICA OF SAN FRANCESCO DI PAOLA, the THEATER OF S. CARLO, the UMBERTO I GALLERY and the imposing MASCHIO ANGIOINO.
We leave the city crossing the fertile valley of Vesuvius and passing through the municipa lities of Ercolano, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata, to reach POMPEI, where we will have lunch.
 In the afternoon, always accompanied by our guide, we will begin the archaeological visit in the ancient city (about 2 hours). Buried under a layer of ash and lava from an unexpected eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii returned to light after almost 1,700 years and the daily life of an ordinary day in the first imperial era, as if by magic, was captured in its gestures, in its secrets and in the panic of its last moments.
At the end of the visit, we will start the return journey to Rome, where we will arrive after about 3 hours. Return to the hotel surroundings.
The tour includes pick up from all hotels in the center of Rome. If you are staying in apartments or bed and breakfast, you must go directly to the starting point (Hotel Mediterraneo in Via Cavour 15 – Near Termini central station)
